Apple has begun selling the 3G versions of the iPad 2 in China, ahead of that, another good news is that the company has launched two major retail stores in Shanghai and Hon Kong later this week.
Apple’s online store is also offering 16GB, 32GB and 64GB 3G technology models, respectively. The price has increased from more than a $100 premium from the U.S> prices, though, it should be noted down that China’s hefty import tariff has been added into the retail price.
According to the “Wall Street Journal” The cupertino giant announced this move on Tuesday. A spokesman also told the publication that the iPad 2 3G will be made available in retail stores and at authorized reseller stores.
Mean while, the 3G service with this new iPad 2 in china will be supported by Unicom which is also Apple’s current partner for the iPhone in the country. Though the service for this career hasn’t started by now. It has offered only iPad plans to customers who import the device on their own or get it from the grey market which is obviously not official.
In the month of July, it was reportedly confirmed that China executes were planning a trip to United states to discuss more about the 3G iPad 2.
Apple at the other hand is all set to continue its highly-confused retail expansion in this country on Friday, the company will inaugurate its 5th store in Mainland China in Shanghai at Nanjing East. The other China’s region will also seen some of the Apple’s boost as a huge flagship Hon Kong store is about to be opened at the IFC Mall on Saturday.
The store located at the Nanjing Road will Apple’s largest retail location in all over China. Apple is busy operating two other stores in Shanghai and the other two are located in Beijing. The company has also uncovered the plans to reach a total of 25 stores in this country within 2 years.
Nevertheless, the iPad 2 is an instant success for Apple in all over the World. The early launch of this device in May drew a sell-out crow. Just after a day when iPad 2 was launched in China, fierce demand for Apple’s second generation table and white iPhone led to an altercation outside the store, few people begun to fight as well and the aftermath was, 4 people were injured.
According to J.P. Morgan analyst Mark Moskowitz, Apple is likely to uncover an iPhone 4-plus specifically focused at making inroads into the China pre-paid mobile market alongside with the 5th-gen iPhone. On Monday, he reckoned in a note to investors that the current iPhone 4 will come in place of 3GS as the lower-end offering, with the ‘plus’ edition focusing on the mid range.
After bringing its focus to Chinese market, Apple has got amazing results. In Q2 of 2011, the company noted a six-fold increase in revenue in Greater China year over year to 3.8 billion dollars.
