Lenovo announces the ThinkPad X1 Carbon
The laptop you are looking at is the ThinkPad X1 and you are thinking the right way it’s the successor to the X1 that we have seen last year. But hang on…it’s not that much typical refresh as what you are thinking to be. The X1, once a 13-inch system, has grown up into a 14-inch ultraportable, now being marketed as an Ultrabook. Although it has been increased with an inch in screen size but still it somehow manages to continue both thinner and lighter than its predecessor say3.0 pounds and roughly 18mm (.71 inches) thick, down from 3.7 pounds / .84 inches. However you cannot make much difference between the both but still the folks who have been very close to the device or have used the predecessor would be able to notice the significant changes. But its little bit hard for those who are picking the X1 for the first time.
This is not all, I mean these are not the only changes that are going to notice in the machine, Lenovo also bounced the resolution from 1366 x 768 to 1600 x 900, and made some elusive tweaks to the backlit, spill-resistant keyboard. The 3G connectivity which was an optional feature last time stands as the selling point this time. As you could’ve guessed, it packs an Ivy Bridge processor, coupled with Intel’s vPro management technology and (we assume) integrated graphics. Like the last-gen model, it makes use of Lenovo’s RapidCharge tech, which allows the notebook to re-charge up to 80 percent capacity in 30 minutes. The darker side is that the company is not yet giving its words for battery life. And the other thing that we don’t know and even can’t guess is the pricing of the device. What we know so far is, the device is going to be on sale from this summer
