1^st Step:

Of course first you have to Login to your Gmail account > then click the settings icon laid on the upper right corner of your inbox > click Themes there.

2^nd Step:

After selecting Themes you will be displayed a page > simply scroll down the page to see the Custom Themes Section > Click on either Light or Dark theme to select your background image from your PC, phone, album, or featured pictures.

3^rd Step:

In case you are uploading picture through your PC, you have to click Upload Photos and then lick Select photos from your computer to browse to the picture location. As once you select your favorite picture > Click Open > then click Select Button to Upload > in this way simply set your favorite picture as your Gmail’s background.
