Lets start how to Create Windows 8 Recovery CD

Step 1: First Press Windows + Q you will get search here type Windows 7 File Recovery and press enter key to open the it.

Step 2: In this Window at the left-pane, click on Create a system repair disc option to launch Create a System Repair Disc dialog.

Step 3: Now you need to choose your CD/DVD drive from the drop-down menu, insert a blank CD/DVD into the drive, and now click Create disc button to start burning your Windows 8 Recovery disc. It will take some time to create your recovery CD/DVD.

One thing which is important to discuss here if you are creating 32-bit Windows 8 recovery disc it will only be used to repair 32-bit Windows 8 not 64-bit Windows 8 and also if you are creating a Windows 8 recovery disc it will not work on any previous version of Windows. To be able to boot from the recovery CD/DVD, you need to first change the boot priority to boot from CD/DVD under BIOS.

Great information! It has really more features than the old system repair disks! Although, it is a great amount of information, I was wondering about the images. The first one was like in the Developer Preview, Consumer Preview, or the Release Preview. The second one was in Windows 7 :D! And the third one seems to be the final version of Windows 8, or Windows Basic. Overall, I really like this post!

What is change first change the boot priority to boot from CD/DVD under BIOS mean?

  Jon, your system normally boots from the cd rom, if there is a windows disk in it. If not it will boot from the partition the windows 8 is at. In some cases that is disabled and you must open up system bios and change how the bootup starts. Checking check for startup in cd rom will make sure it looks there first. If it does not find startup there it will look onto the c: drive until it finds it.

What size should the disk end up being, I followed this exactly and was surprised at how fast it completed. The disk is only 281 MB, is that normal. I’ve just opened the laptop so its barely been used

I don´t get why to create a Windows 8 recovery disk, you would launch a Windows 7 Recovery function… In fact, on the Windows 8 Recovery Disk function there is no option to create a Recovery Disk on DVD at all; only to a USB key.

Windows 8 System Repair Disk can be used to boot your computer.
It contains tools that can help you recover Windows from a serious error or
restore your computer from a system image.

Windows 8 recovery Disk is used to reset your PC – it is
supposed to reload the operating system and restore factory default settings.
You need a USB flash drive 16GB or larger.

I haven’t found yet a way to create Windows 8 recovery
CD/DVD, which can be used to reinstall the operating system.

I am also looking for a way to create the Windows 8 recovery disk(s) which are used to reset your PC to factory default. This generally wipes the HD and REINSTALLS the entire OS to the same state as when you first booted it up after purchase. Has anyone else found a way to create these yet? My laptop running Vista came with a way to create 2 DVD’s for OS recovery. My new desktop came with the Windows 8 OS pre installed but with only a drivers pack disk. I followed the directions above but the quick burn, and size of the media on the DVD is not what I was looking for.

Go to search on the right. Type recovery media. And then it will show up on the left click. Create recovery media and follow instructions

yeah, most people here are looking for a method of creating a windows 8 recovery dvd (as the title suggests), not a windows 8 repair disk as the article describes.

Anyone found a solution to create a system RECOVERY discs (full O.S. install) yet? I want to upgrade from HDD to SDD and I believe this is the best way to do this. Clean install.
